In October 2024, our conference on psychotherapy in Athens brought together clinicians and researchers from 19 countries. Topics covered included the implications of the Cass Review; the relationship between gender dysphoria and comorbidities like eating disorders, body dysmorphia, autism spectrum disorders, trauma and dissociation; the development of the adolescent brain; the role of sexual development and disorders of sexual development in gender distress; an exploration of changes in the field of youth gender medicine over time; training on holistic assessment and exploratory psychotherapeutic support for gender-questioning adolescents and young adults; guidance on how to work with desisters and detransitioners; and an overview of research priorities and approaches.
